The Ides of May

It is May the sixteenth, and I sit here in my dorm room at Hobe Sound Bible College contemplating the coming week. Completion of college, graduation exercises, the arrival of family, and packing are included in this weeks' events. By this time Saturday, farewell's will be said, tassel's turned, diploma's received, and the past four years will remain as but a signature on a crowded yearbook page. Excitement, caution, and uncertainty are among the chiefest of emotions at present as I contemplate the future. Yet it is with confidence I may proceed with life after college*.

*if such a thing truly does exist. this remains to be seen and will be proven shortly.

The confidence of which I speak is based solely on a complete surrender and utter reliance on Jesus: the author and finisher of our Faith. In Him alone is found true peace, contentment, confidence, and joy.

I am no longer my own, but thine.

Put me to what thou wilt, rank me with whom thou wilt.

Put me to doing, put me to suffering.

Let me be employed by thee or laid aside for thee,

exalted for thee or brought low for thee.

Let me be full, let me be empty.

Let me have all things, let me have nothing.

I freely and heartily yield all things

to thy pleasure and disposal.

And now, O glorious and blessed God,

Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,

thou art mine, and I am thine. So be it.

And the covenant which I have made on earth,

let it be ratified in heaven. Amen.

The words of John Wesley resound in my own heart with a reassuring 'yes!' May it be so.

Thus concludes my very first blog post. Cheers.
